Sunset - Room 9 News
Our Room 9 whanau is made up of 5 incredible tamariki aged between 5 and 8 years, 3 dedicated Kaiawhina and Kaiako. Tauira also receive additional support from the school's highly experienced Specialists teams Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Language Therapist.
Our main focus this year in Room 9 is around Te Ao Marama and Mātauranga Māori. Learning to examine and understand the world around us using different perspectives about knowledge and knowing.
Increasing self-awareness, connecting more intimately with the environment, and becoming more attuned to meaningful and shared activities. Tamariki are encouraged to practise daily rangatiratanga, learning independence, making choices, challenging fears, practising resilience and reflecting on behaviours.
As a class we visit local areas, Marae, as well as participate in water therapy and Swim-Able. The students are developing a greater sense of whanaungatanga and their sense of belonging through engagement and exposure to the world around them.
