Sunset - Room 9 News
Tena Koutou!
Our Room 9 whanau is made up of 6 incredible tamariki aged between 5 and 9 years working alongside our dedicated Kaiawhina Toro and Debbie as well their Kaiako Awhina. Tauira also receive additional support from the school's highly experienced Specialists teams Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Language Therapist.
Our main focus this year in Room 9 is incorporating the new curriculum Aotearoa NZ History. The students are developing a greater sense of whanaungatanga and their sense of belonging through engagement and exposure to the world around them.
“Learning about our shared histories is part of our collective identity.
People, places, and things influence our sense of belonging in place, in spirit, and in time.
Aotearoa New Zealand's histories is used to enhance culturally responsive, responsible, and respectful environments for whānau, tamariki, and community.” https://tewhariki.tki.org.nz/
Akonga are also encouraged to practise daily rangatiratanga, learning independence, making choices, challenging fears, practising resilience and reflecting on behaviours.
