Sunset 9
In Room 9 there are five tamariki in the class, who are supported by three kaiawhina (teacher aides) Toro, Debbie, Jermaine and myself, Anna Roberts, the kaiako (teacher). We are fortunate and grateful to return to a nicely refurbished classroom. I anticipate that the students’ work will soon adorn the bare walls!
While the weather is still warm, the students have enjoyed water play outside. They have fantastic playgrounds to play on and a bike track to walk on. They frequent the bike track each morning to start the day. We attend Equisucceed (horse riding) each Tuesday during term one. The students have an opportunity to visit a local park or shopping center. They also meet other students from our kura when we gather together at Rotorua specialist school for any events. Our class attends Rotorua specialist school to take part in the PmP programme whereby students work through a basic confidence course to support balance, strength, agility to name a few. They visit the dark room, which is situated in the same place. This is a place where they are ‘wowed’ by some of the lights on display in the room.
I look forward to a positive year of learning and forming healthy relationships with the tamariki and staff in room 9.
