A Slice of Science!

Science at Rotorua Specialist School

This year each class is having a taste of science from our release teacher Jenn Montgomery.  She will be visiting most classes every three weeks to deliver science lessons relevant to each class.

The aim is to make science accessible to all students in our school.  This will be done through using visuals for communication of new words, breaking activities down to simpler concepts and having sensory experiences for students to enjoy.

The most important strand of the NZ Science curriculum will be focused on each lesson, The Nature of Science.  This strand requires students to look at the world around them, to notice, to think and to wonder.  Older students will be asked to think critically about the world around them, to measure, to observe and to draw conclusions of their own.
